2021 EVENTS COME TO A CLOSE AND ALL WERE EXTRAORDINARY HITS!    May 17, 2021

Wow, what an incredible day at beautiful Sierra Sage Golf Course in Stead, NV (North Reno). Fred did his magic once again. The sun came out after a deluge of rain on Sat and again following our events Sunday. The weather and day was perfect. WOW, just thank you to all involved with our final 2021 events.

Mike Mazzaferri - Director of Golf Sierra Sage and President MAZZ Golf Management, Chris Dewar Executive Director of First Tee N Nevada set up our amazing stations all over his expansive property. It was our 28th annual Fred Alexander Memorial JUNIOR Golf Clinic in a wonderful, restructured community event. We hosted two sessions with shorter time frames (morning and afternoon), smaller number of kids (60 maximum) and they went through three stations at Sierra Sage Golf Course. Thanks also to our few but mighty volunteers for 2021 to the parking directional staff outdoors!

The PGA professionals were assigned a pod (# 1-12) with 4-6 juniors for the day and went through their two hours of outdoor introductory golf with that same group of kids. They were able to keep socially distanced, develop great bonds and life-time relationships with their pod-mates and professional. Also thankful we were able per Gov Sisolak, national and Nevada directives and CDC to be outdoors and mask-free for our last clinic day. We encouraged anyone that wanted to wear a mask to do so. You can see we were easily able to follow distancing guidelines outside as there is a lot of incredible space at Sierra Sage. We are so thankful Mike M...and his staff were able to set up stations with those protocols in mind.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL OF OUR SIERRA NEVADA CHAPTER PGA PROFESSIONALS WHO TRULY MAKE THIS DAY POSSIBLE. A special shoutout to Gus Jones-Martis Camp, John Hughes (He has been to every clinic for 28 years and did club distribution at all three facilities!), Don Boyle (LMPGA helped for almost all 28) and Fred Elliott have been part of our day each year.
All of our professionals donated their time to teach all of you the basics and play the fun games designed. I can see everyone's initial responses with the pods were tremendous! All of our pros taught long game - driving range, chipping-putting - short game area, and last but not least my favorite the 4 hole scramble golf course set up on Sierra Sage's cool practice holes. Everyone played with their own club from station to station that our clinic and sponsors financially dedicate to our youth. We give each junior that needs equipment of their own a club that they keep for our stations and summer golf.

What makes that so important is we want them to fall in love with our great game and continue with it at golf courses in their area from First Tee to all the local golf programs. IF YOU ARE PLAYER READY , INTERMEDIATE OR BEGINNER THERE IS A PROGRAM CLOSE TO YOU. The kids receive a stuffed backpack that included this important information.

Sponsors are so vital to our day and their commitment to our Fred Alexander Memorial Family (junior for 2021) Golf Clinic was more than important.
HERE THEY ARE BELOW AND PLEASE GIVE THEM VIRTUAL ROUND OF APPLAUSE:)

The EJ Tegner Foundation
The David and Patricia Kepler Foundation
The Sierra Nevada Chapter / NCPGA
The Antigua Group
The NNWGA and The NNGA

From sponsors to professionals to golf courses your belief in what we are about is very commendable and appreciated by all behind the scenes!

Obviously all of our three golf facilities in Carson City, Reno and Stead all had to make some significant adaptations for COVID protocols, safety distance decals, signage, masks when necessary, all outdoors, our very different formatting and layouts everywhere. It was a huge undertaking and we are very grateful.

Thank you:
Mike Mazzaferri at Sierra Sage Golf Course - MAZZ Golf Mgmt
Greg Wentzel, Director of Golf Washoe Golf Course
and TJ Duncan, Vice President - Duncan Golf Management
You all gave your facilities, incredible staff, closing your operations for part of the day, building stations with safety protocols, etc.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO AN INCREDIBLE 2022!

What a great day...Wet weather and all!    May 21, 2015

We want to thank all of our participants who braved a little of the wet stuff to take in a great day of golf at Eagle Valley Golf Course.

We had well over 800 kids and families registered for our day. Rain certainly kept some families away but we had many show for a really incredible day.

First of all, thank you to our Sierra Nevada Chapter PGA professionals who made our day part of their schedules. They got in about half of their lesson time with kids and families.

We were very fortunate to not only have our wonderful trick shot performer - The Great Joey 'O'...but he finished his entire show and got one entire hour after before the rain came.

We thank Jim Kepler and Staff for having cart barn ready for us to retreat to when the skies opened! We were able to do raffles, Gus Jones (Dir of Golf - Martis Camp) did his important 'where do we go from here' station and gave handouts to kids and families regarding the nearest facilities and programs that fit their needs.

Lunch (although small issue with pizza delivery - first time ever, I think!) was a big hit and thanks to all of our volunteers and Calculated Industries, Inc. for all of our pizza/soda/water station.

Again, thank you to Jim Kepler and Staff for all of their assistance.

We have some very special thank you's for 2015. The Alexander Family has always been the backbone of this event financially. However, we want to thank Michael Hohl Automotive for their major contribution and making this day possible. We hope it is a valuable partnership and one that continues for many years.

Also, we want to thank all of our sponsors: Ken and Marietta Alexander, Calculated Industries, Inc., Judy Alexander and Alexander Family, Michael Hohl Automotive, Eagle Valley Golf Course/CCMGC, Sierra Sage GC, The Antigua Group, NCPGA/Play Golf America and NNWGA.

We have a wonderful relationship with all of our committed sponsors and contributors. We are deeply appreciative.

Thank you and be ready for 2016!
