2020 FRED ALEXANDER MEMORIAL FAMILY GOLF CLINIC - POSTPONED    September 25, 2020

Hi everyone!

We hope this finds you all happy, safe and well during this very strange time.
We were certainly hoping to do our 29th Annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Event this Fall of 2020 but feel it is better to wait until Spring of 2021, in May. Hopefully at that time we will be able to put on our full event in a safe environment.

Fall - 2020 Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic POSTPONED.

We certainly miss our day and we have had so many calls from many of you. Most of those calls are from people that have attended over the years and now have new family members that they want to introduce to our great game.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY WITH GOLF BEING ONE OF THE MOST ENJOYABLE AND SAFEST SPORTS, TO TAKE THE TIME TO GET INVOLVED WITH OUR LOCAL GOLF COURSE JUNIOR AND FAMILY PROGRAMS AS WELL AS THE FIRST TEE IN OUR AREA. Especially now with our fabulous Fall weather and golf course conditions.

MANY FAMILIES ARE WANTING TO GET INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, FUN WITH YOUR PEERS AND FAMILY, PRIZES, THAT OUR DAY PROVIDES. EACH YEAR. We look forward to doing that again around the corner in May 2021. There are wonderful golf opportunities at all of our local courses that you should check out while the weather is still wonderful. Our game is one of a lifetime and we are certainly seeing that during this time.

We especially thank our wonderful sponsors and professionals that have stuck with all the daily health changes and obstacles over these many months. We look forward to using their contributions to make our day an amazing one in 2021. We have many 'new types of stations and holes' set up for our event when it takes place. It will be an even more exciting day and adventure!

**Safety, of course, is our biggest concern with all of our juniors, families, professionals and volunteers. And the opportunity to provide an amazing day of golf introduction to our community remains our guiding premise.**

We have certainly looked at many different types of events but think for us this is the best solution and our day will be around the corner!

Please support by visiting your local golf courses and professionals during this time for great times playing golf!

SEE YOU IN SPRING 2021! We will keep you informed of the exact month and date.

2020 FRED ALEXANDER MEMORIAL FAMILY GOLF CLINIC- Event Date Information    April 29, 2020

We hope, first and foremost, all of our local families are safe and healthy. That is our top priority as well as finding safe, fulfilling, life-changing activities moving forward. All together we will pull through this stronger and ready for some normalcy and life outdoors. Our event will not be held in May following guidance from our local school districts, health administrators as well as Center for Disease Control and World Health Organization and State of Nevada.

Our 28th Annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic was originally scheduled the end of May and now we will be restructuring and shooting for our new Fall date:
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2020. We will keep you informed with any updates on Facebook and this website:
www.alexandergolfclinic.com

We already have had in the works some exciting, integral, new things planned for our 2020 FREE introductory golf clinic at Eagle Valley Golf Course-Duncan Golf Management. These changes will allow us to actually play a few holes, also setting up SNAG golf holes for play in 2020. Our professionals are anxious to get you experience on the course!

We can't begin to tell you how difficult this is for everyone involved not seeing all of our families, kids, golf professionals, volunteers and sponsors. We miss all of the components that go into our event but look forward to having a safe, healthy, wonderful day of introduction to our great game. We look forward to getting you and your family information, trick shot performance, equipment, instruction, free raffles, growth and playing opportunities from here (First Tee, NNJGA, and many local programs)
BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY FUN!!

This is what we are shooting for and wanted to keep you up-to-date. But, we will have to be flexible and see how everything plays out over the next few months. We always emphasize safety at our day through a multitude of things. However, going forward we will have the latest safety, health requirements and current best practices. This might even include some internal/external restructuring of the clinic itself but we will manage and provide the best possible day! WE HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED TO INTRODUCE MANY TO OUR BELOVED GAME.

OF COURSE THIS DAY IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE COMMITMENT OF OUR SPONSORS AND WE THANK ALL OF THEM FOR THEIR CONTINUED 2020 SUPPORT. LISTED BELOW:

BREAKING FOUNDATION NEWS    February 22, 2011

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

To ALL OF OUR PARTICIPANTS, PROFESSIONALS, GOLF COURSES, VOLUNTEERS and SPONSORS:

We want to say a very special thank you to all of you that have participated, volunteered, taught and sponsored our many Fred Alexander Memorial Golf Clinics through the years. We have created wonderful friendships, memories and opportunities for many kids and families. Our inclusion of War Heroes and those individuals with disabilities made our events truly one-of-a-kind and we have been very fortunate to be able to bring these events to many around the country.

These clinics have been made possible because of the generosity of The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation and the Alexander Family. There has been no-one, in our area, that has been as instrumental (financially) in introducing the game of golf to ten’s of thousands, as Judy Alexander. What began as a small idea back in 1993, when her husband Fred passed away, took off into events and things we never dreamed. She wanted to preserve his love of the game in a way that would perpetuate the sport and we certainly accomplished that. This game and all of us involved have become better for having her involved with our community golf.

There have been so many people involved with our events from National Sponsors, Local Sponsors, Volunteers during the event and Volunteers in the background leading up to the day. We certainly cannot list them all throughout the years. But, WE CAN THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU, because without your vision, support and hard-work, these events never would have become successful.

Our dream was to introduce the game of golf to many in the memory of Fred Alexander. I think he would be proud of the thousands that have had the opportunity to fall in love with the game. Judy and I have heard from so many of you over the years. Stories that make us all really realize just what we have accomplished.

Judy has decided that The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation will be dissolved and the last two big events that we host in Carson City, Nevada and Ashland, Nebraska have come to an end.

I, personally, wish to thank everyone along the way that made these many years so special. From our formative years in Dayton, NV with Jim, Tom, Sid, Lou, Mike, Fred, Don and John to our many events all over the country and all of the PGA Professionals along the way. Calculated Industries, Inc (Judy Alexander, Ken Alexander, Steve, Mark, Allen, Ed, Stacey, Susie, Bonnie, Phil, Keith, OARC and so many more. University golf coach, Jerry, back in Nebraska that let us take our first big step out of Nevada and into a whole other world. All of the PGA Sections, Professionals, LPGA, and Apprentices, that donated their time. I can’t thank you enough from the bottom of my heart. Sponsors that gave year after year to the PGA Professionals, Kids and Families. Play Golf America which has been involved with our events for so many years. And I would be remiss to mention the many performers we have had entertain at our clinics. They made each and every one of our days very special and showed the participants a different and unique side of golf.

Special thanks to my home PGA Section, The Northern California PGA and our Sierra Nevada Chapter. All of you, from Board of Directors, to Play Golf America, to PR, to Executive Secretaries and Directors and Members. Remember just how important our jobs are in introducing kids and families to this great game. We have a duty and responsibility to perpetuate and grow the game and youth is our dedicated path.

I want all of you to know that having been a part of The Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinics has been a remarkable journey and I truly thank you all.

Sincerely,

Shelly Godeken-Wright
Class ‘A’ PGA Professional
Former Executive Director/ The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation

NEBRASKA Fred Alexander Clinic    February 22, 2011

NEBRASKA

I am sure everyone is getting anxious to play after a cold, cold winter! The ice will soon be melting and we sincerely hope that you are ready to get started with a wonderful spring golf season.

We are very sorry to inform everyone that the 2010 Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic was the last clinic our Foundation will be doing in the Nebraska area. Judy Alexander has been extremely generous to many communities around the country introducing tens of thousands to the game of golf. We have very much enjoyed our time, in the Midwest, making available a great day of golf. Our partnership with The Nebraska PGA Section along with Play Golf America has been a very special one. It has been a relationship that shows just how much everyone, back in Nebraska, is dedicated to make possible the game of golf.

So many of you have volunteered your time, dollars and sponsorships, throughout the years. We thank ALL OF YOU, PGA Professionals, Family, Golf Teams, Golf Course Staff, Executive Directors – NEPGA and the list goes on and on. You have no idea how special you are to commit to making the golfing world a better place. As Fred Alexander loved the game, you have given more kids, people with disabilities, Veterans and families that same chance.

The facilities that hosted events along the way… The first back in 1997 and early 2000’s, CROOKED CREEK GOLF COURSE, Jerry Fisher, Matt Simpson and Staff. Wow, were those days fun and exciting! Their golf course was suited well to the type of event we put together. We took an idea and made it into something it is today. We learned a lot about the space and time it took to make a first-class event and also just how many people, in the background and day of the event, were needed to make a championship day. Thank you to all.

Our second facility, QUARRY OAKS GOLF COURSE began hosting this event back in 2004. Joe Sutter, Brian, Staff and Owners helped to make their golf course a very special place for the many that came. Joe has always been involved with our events and when it worked to make the change to their facility, it was a wonderful partnership. Quarry Oaks is one of the most beautiful courses in the State of Nebraska and the fact that they made our Clinic part of their very busy schedule, we are very appreciative.

There are just too many people to thank all along the way but a VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to all of our family. Steve and Kathy, Charlene and Jim, Matt and Sara, Kelly, Vic and Barb, Rhonda, Rod and Jodi, Becky, etc, and many Teachers from LPS and OPS that made our day part of their schedule. You can’t possibly know how much we enjoyed seeing all of you each year and making this event a reality for your community youth and families.

Personally, I will miss seeing all of you every year. It was one of the highlights of the year, coming back to where I grew up and giving something back to the game which has been so beneficial in my life. Everyone along the way from my Golf Coach at The University, to friends I have made in the last few years at Quarry Oaks and The NEPGA. All of our Sponsors, that I would call and they would quickly make a phone call to get their donation in place. I think this is a tribute to our work and I am very proud to have been a part of The Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinics and most extremely fortunate to have been Executive Director of The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation.

Thank you and Very Sincerely,

Shelly Godeken-Wright

Touching base with Alexander Clinic participants    October 8, 2010

Hope you all are having a wonderful Fall! Getting those clubs ready for winter, no doubt. Winter here has been in the form of rain for a week. Probably better than snow right now. The golf courses here at Lake Tahoe are getting ready to close this week and next. Time to get them ready for winter. This past winter/spring really took a toll on them and made it a tough summer for the grass. I am sure a nice wet Fall and early close to get everything properly ready for cold and snow will be all it takes. Good Luck!
We just want to say THANK YOU again to all of our great Host Facilities. Your donating of your courses makes our events possible and we so appreciate your time, efforts and generosity.
A special THANK YOU to all of our wonderful Sponsors and Volunteers!! Again, you make it possible to do what we do.
Last but not least, THANK YOU to all of the area PGA Section Professionals. You are all terrific and really the backbone of our day. You are the best!
Everyone, have a great winter and keep your game in shape by swinging indoors and putting when you can. Everything you do inside just to keep a motion going will put you that much further ahead this next season.

Shelly

QUARRY OAKS, Ashland, Nebraska HUGE HIT!!    September 12, 2009

Quarry Oaks event held on Saturday, June 27th in Ashland Nebraska. WHAT A DAY!!! We had had the worst week of weather prior to our day with heat indexes up around 110 degrees. Didn't know how we would pull it all off, but Fred did his magic and once again the day was overcast (a little threatening, but never came in over Quarry Oaks) and 80 degrees. It was an awesome day in many ways!! FIRST OF ALL A VERY BIG THANKS TO QUARRY OAKS (Joe, Brian, Staff, Owners, etc) for being such a terrific host facility. It takes a certain type of place to accommodate our kind of clinic. Quarry Oaks is truly one of the most beautiful settings and courses back in that area. You should take time to visit there when you have a chance. The course sets along the Platte River and is really quite stunning. Our event began with a lot of pre-registrations. We were busy entering data for a lot of excited families! At registration, every participant received a T-shirt and back-pack compliments of The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation) We have great golf goodies included in those bags (tees, program for the day, candy, calculator especially made for our events and donated by Calculated Industries, Inc. THANK YOU to all that make that possible) After we get everyone through regristration we keep them in the cool indoors or they get to go out to our Exhibition area where our great performer for the day KEVIN COMPARE was warming up and get a good birds eye seat. Craig Estiduillo (announcer for Salt Dog baseball and some Husker activities) provided dj'g for the day and we had great music and pa capabilities for Kevin and myself.
THE NEBRASKA PGA SECTION and PLAY GOLF AMERICA were terrific and we want to thank them for their support of bringing Kevin back to Nebraska. THE PROFESSIONALS WERE ALL GREAT. I have heard so many positive comments regarding the level of instruction received so a very big thank you goes out to our Professionals for that day!

SPONSORS FOR NEBRASKA: We have so many great National Sponsors as well as local sponsors. The Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation Ken and Marietta Alexander The Antigua Group The Nebraska PGA Section Play Golf America Sundog Sunglasses

We have so many wonderful Family members that help with this particular event. We couldn't do it without each and every one of you. Charlene and Jim Simpson need to have special recognition as they do SO MUCH not only the day of the event but take care of many things in the background leading up to our big day. THANK YOU! I am very thankful for my Husband's help and all of his family as there were a lot of little things that happen throughout the day and they all jumped in and got things on the right track and we thank them all very much!

AGAIN, THANKS TO ALL and LOOK FORWARD TO A WONDERFUL 2010! Shelly
